ODE TO AUTUMN

Autumn styled shoot

Welcoming autumn with warmth.

With rain imminent, and temperatures dropping, the “Ode to Autumn” shoot brought warmth on an otherwise cloudy day.

The importance of a stylist can be seen throughout this shoot. I felt very fortunate to work with a team who understand that, too. Creating a mood board, and sending my inventory requests to vendors is one thing, but seeing it all come together and invite each vendor to bring creativity to the table, always ends in a far better result than I could have ever planned.

The choices I made for this tablescape had warmth at the forefront. Woods, coloured ceramics, maroons and pinks all create a very different feeling than the usual mustards, rusts and golds often seen in Autumn styling. Figs, fruit and walnuts reminded me of mulled wine, warm crumbles and cheese platters by the fire. (There’s one of those, too!).

Trista of Botanical Lane did a fabulous job of the brief. I had requested no emerald foliage, and she came with a boot load of gorgeous reds, plums, berries and branches.

The table details are a mix of my own and Miss Frou Frou. Suzanne has the most impeccable style, and she presented a whole bunch of goodies I didn’t even know existed! Her new mini ceramic tealight holders in all kinds of colours are just divine.

This was the first time working with Michelle Hepburn and I hope we continue the path we started. I was SO impressed with Michelle’s attention to detail, her ability to edit the colours perfectly, and her willingness to get involved and change things around etc.

The venue St. George’s Restaurant, is quickly becoming a hot spot to wed. With it’s beautiful “under the vines” ceremony spot, a stunning courtyard, and a neutral upstairs mezzanine - the options for space or design are endless. Also helps that Francky (head chef & owner), has a gift, and the food is fabulous.

And of course a thank you to Panoply Studio and Tble. Linen for providing the most gorgeous details. Linen and stationery can often be overlooked. But really, they are both one of the most important aspects of design.
