CENTRAL OTAGO BRANCH MANAGER | OPERATIONS

FULL TIME | CROMWELL

Flock Events is New Zealand’s largest luxury event furniture hire company, delivering furniture and event solutions for weddings, corporate events, festivals and private functions across the country.

Our Cromwell branch services Queenstown, Wānaka and the wider Central Otago region, and we're looking for someone to take genuine ownership of the operation on the ground.

The Role

We're looking for a Central Otago Branch Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our Cromwell branch.

This isn't a desk-based management role. You'll be just as comfortable jumping in a truck, leading an event installation or sorting the warehouse as you are planning the week, managing a roster or talking with a client. While you will work closely with our national Operations team, you will receive full operational and logistical support from the national team whenever you need it. You are the local leader on the ground responsible for bringing in, rostering, and directing casual crews during busy periods and major multi-person event installations.

You'll become the person who knows what's happening in Central Otago, the team, the clients, the warehouse, fleet, upcoming jobs and what needs attention.

The goal is simple: Central Otago runs exceptionally well.

What you’ll own

Branch & Delivery Operations

  • Plan and oversee deliveries, collections, installations and pack-downs

  • Make sure upcoming jobs are properly crewed, prepared and ready to go

  • Lead crews on site and step into deliveries and installations when required

  • Solve local operational issues quickly and identify problems before they happen

Warehouse & Fleet

  • Keep the Cromwell warehouse organised, safe and operationally ready

  • Oversee picking, returns, stock presentation and stocktakes

  • Coordinate furniture repairs and maintenance

  • Ensure vehicles and operational equipment are maintained, compliant and ready to work

Team Leadership

  • Roster and coordinate the local crew

  • Help to recruit and onboard seasonal and casual team members

  • Train, support and develop the team

  • Set clear expectations and create a positive, accountable working environment

Clients & Venues

  • Build strong relationships with local planners, venues and clients

  • Be the key local contact for operational matters

  • Manage reasonable last-minute changes and requests

  • Make sure we deliver what we've promised exceptionally well

A SEASONAL ROLE

Central Otago events are highly seasonal, and we want to be upfront about what that means.

Summer is busy and requires flexibility, including early starts, late finishes, weekends and longer weeks during peak periods. Winter is quieter (but still consistent), giving you time to focus on stock, maintenance, systems, recruitment, training, corporate work and preparing the branch for the next season.

We're looking for someone who enjoys that seasonal way of working and wants long-term ownership of the branch.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in operations, logistics, events, warehousing, hospitality, construction or another fast-moving environment, you know how to keep people, equipment and jobs moving and you have the stories to prove it!

  • A confident team leader, you set clear expectations, lead from the front and aren't afraid to jump in alongside your crew and get your hands dirty.

  • Highly organised you can plan ahead and make sure the people, vehicles, furniture and equipment are ready before they're needed.

  • A natural problem solver, when something changes at the last minute, you don't panic. You work out what needs to happen next.

  • Comfortable taking ownership, you don't need someone remotely managing the branch or reminding you what needs attention but you are also a high communicator able to communicate clearly to the leadership team when you do need support

  • Great with people, whether you're briefing a casual crew member, dealing with a venue or helping a client with a last-minute request.

  • Proud of high standards – from how the warehouse looks to how our furniture arrives on site.

  • Willing to get stuck in – this is not a behind-the-desk management role. You'll drive trucks, move furniture and work on site alongside the team.

  • Experience in event or equipment hire would be great, but isn't essential. We're more interested in finding the right operational person who wants to make the branch their own.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence

  • Comfortable driving larger vehicles

  • Able to undertake the physical requirements of furniture delivery and installation

  • Available for flexible hours and weekend work during peak season

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Comfortable using basic operational systems and technology

Class 2 license is preferable but Flock would be willing to provide one for the right candidate. Experience in event or equipment hire would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

What we offer

  • Genuine ownership, Cromwell is your branch to run, with support from our wider Operations and Sales teams.

  • The opportunity to build and develop a great local team.

  • Variety, no two weeks in events look quite the same.

  • A seasonal working rhythm, with busy summers and quieter winters to reset, improve and prepare.

  • Be part of a growing, nationally recognised event brand working across some incredible events and venues.

  • A fast-moving team that backs people who take initiative and get stuck in.

  • Work with a team that is passionate (we give a Flock.)

  • For the right long-term candidate, support to obtain a Class 2 licence if required.

What success looks like

  • Jobs leave Cromwell complete, checked and ready to go.

  • Events are delivered safely, efficiently and to Flock's standard.

  • The warehouse is organised and furniture is well maintained and accounted for.

  • Rosters are planned and the team knows what they're doing.

  • Vehicles and equipment are maintained and ready to work.

  • Clients, planners and venues trust you.

  • Problems are spotted early and solved without unnecessary drama.

  • The wider Flock team knows that when it comes to Central Otago, you've got it.

This role will suit someone who leads from the front, takes ownership and thrives in a hands-on, fast-moving environment.Ultimately, we're looking for someone who can say: “I've got Central Otago.” And we can trust that they do.
